Tomorrow’s Newspaper: Waiver Wire Prescience For Week 7

Waiver Wire

Alex Collins

With Chris Carson on IR, Alex Collins paced the Seahawks backfield with 20 carries for 101 yards and a touchdown. He hauled in his lone target for –3 yards as well. Explaining Collins’ 59.4% snap share is the fact he missed part of the final quarter and all of overtime. This week, the Seahawks’ bellcow plays against the Saints. The defense hasn’t allowed 100 rushing yards in a game thus far. But, they have allowed three rushing touchdowns in their past two games. Collins is good at the game, but we’re banking on a touchdown this week. Next week, however, the RB takes on the Jaguars – with Carson still on IR. Let’s add Collins now, coming off a RB17 weekly finish last week.

Devonta Freeman

In Latavius Murray‘s absence last week, Devonta Freeman totaled a team-high nine carries for 53 yards and a touchdown. Now, with Murray out this week, Freeman suits up against the Bengals’ defense. The Ravens are 6.5-point favorites as well, which eludes to late carries for the veteran RB. Coming off a RB23 weekly finish last week, Freeman’s got a chance to lead the 10th-best offense in rush DVOA in carries. Consider the RB a one-time bye-week replacement with the Ravens on bye next week.

Marquez Callaway

Marquez Callaway has a lot going for him this week. He’s coming off season-highs in snap share, routes run, targets, receptions, yards, and the almighty fantasy points. Before the Saints bye last week, Callaway totaled 24.5 fantasy points. Good for WR11 for the week. Enter the Seahawks defense, allowing the eighth-most PPR fantasy points to receivers thus far. It helps that the  Saints offense come into the contest as the ninth-best unit in Pass DVOA as well, while the Seahawks defense is the ninth-worst in the same metric. Coming off 24.5 PPR fantasy points Week 5, consider this week Callaway’s ascension into an every-week starter. With Michael Thomas suffering a setback, let’s stash Callaway now. He underperformed early in the season and dropped below 50% ownership in ESPN leagues.

A.J. Green

When I wrote that A.J. Green was washed this past offseason, I was joking. Green, 33,  is a full-time player. In games that he’s commanded six-plus targets this season, Green’s produced three top-24 weekly finishes. And he totaled 13.4 PPR fantasy points in another contest. Well, this week, Green has a good shot to eclipse six targets against the Texans. The implied point total sits at a healthy 47.5, while the Cardinals offense rank ninth-fastest in situation-neutral pace of play. That can lead the Texans’ offense to play catchup and increasing their play total volume. The Cardinals offense rank fifth-best in Pass DVOA as well. A sentence I thought I’d never type in 2021: It’s wheels up for A.J. Green Week 7 against the Texans!

Ricky Seals-Jones

For the Mark Andrews fantasy manager or TE streamer, Ricky Seals-Jones has 14 targts the past two games with Logan Thomas out. The former is now a full-time player, running 34-plus routes in each of the past two contests as well. The opportunity parlayed into nine receptions – four-plus in each contest – for 99 yards and and a touchdown. Seals-Jones is basically Thomas for fantasy purposes. This week, the Football Team play the Packers, ranking 14th-worst in Pass DVOA. Let’s see if Seals-Jones and the Football Team can make a name for themselves this week. The implied point total sits at 47.5 as well, so points could be aplenty. Add Seals-Jones this week and find out.
