Miami Dolphins

No. 29 – Jahan Dotson, WR – Penn State

In 2021, the Dolphins made it a point to bring in speed. For a multitude of reasons, it didn’t exactly work . The additions of free agent Will Fuller (two games and four receptions) and rookie Jaylen Waddle (104 receptions) were thought to help Tua Tagovailoa in Year 2, and elevate this offense into the playoffs. Instead, Fuller missed most of the season, and the Dolphins started 1-7 before finishing 9-8.

Entering 2022 with the new coaching staff, look for the Dolphins to pair Waddle with Penn State speedster Jahan Dotson on the outside.

No. 50 – Travon Walker, EDGE – Georgia

Prior to this mock draft, Travon Walker was considered a Day 2 prospect by much of football and sports media. Listening to multiple outlets and engaging in conversations about the draft, Walker is being talked about with high regard from a lot of franchises. Imagine him getting drafted ahead of Kayvon Thibodeaux. There are teams that have these two players graded that way. Walker, at 6-6 and 275-pounds, enters the NFL Draft after a junior season with 9.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss. One where he played alongside first round talents in Jordan Davis, Devontae Wyatt, and Nakobe Dean.

No. 85 – Kyren Williams, RB – Notre Dame

My favorite running back landing spot in 2022; Kyren Williams bringing his Austin Ekeler body type to South Beach. Williams started 24 games over the last two seasons, finishing with 77 receptions (3.2 per game), and 415 carries (17.2 per game).

Kyren Williams Advanced Stats & Metrics Profile

At a projected 195 to 200-pounds, Williams fits the non-typical NFL RB mold. Think Aaron Jones, Myles Gaskin, Christian McCaffrey, and Austin Ekeler. If he runs the 40-yard dash in the 4.40-4.50 range, his draft stock will only jump up more and more.

No. 123 – JoJo Domann, LB – Nebraska

A do-it-all hybrid linebacker from Nebraska that has played on the defensive line and at defensive back, JoJo Domann was a scout favorite in Mobile. Being a high-energy and high-IQ player will keep him inside the first four rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Will Miami Bounce Back with Mike McDaniel?

2020 with Brian Flores: started 1-7, finished 9-8 (missed the playoffs)

2021 with Brian Flores: started 1-3, finished 10-6 (missed the playoffs)

Coach Mike McDaniel has been the longest-tenured assistant under Kyle Shanahan, dating back to the Washington Redskins days. Not Sean McVay or Matt LeFleur, but actually Mike McDaniel lasted the longest with Shanahan. In his first press conference as the new Dolphins head coach, he emphasized that while he was under Mike Shanahan and Gary Kubiak for 15 years, the offense never changed, and it only evolved. Prior to drafting Robert Griffin III, nobody on the staff had ever run the zone read scheme. So they learned it, not through clinics, but through hard work and grinding at the craft.

Look for Coach McDaniel to bring the same offense from San Francisco, but use it to fit Tua Tagovailoa the best, Adding pieces like Jahan Dotson to Jaylen Waddle, and Kyren Williams to the backfield, will further elevate this offense in what has quickly become a very competitive AFC East.
