The Fantasy Supermarket: Players to Buy in Dynasty

Dynasty Leagues

Looking for a running back that may be on sale? How about a wide receiver that is being discounted due to bad reviews? Maybe a quarterback or tight end whose price is about to skyrocket? This is the right place. Welcome to the Fantasy Supermarket, dynasty edition.

The players that are in the Fantasy Supermarket have indicators suggesting that now is the right time to buy in dynasty formats. I’ll be using advanced analytics and metrics from PlayerProfiler.com’s Data Analysis Tool to highlight which players are worth buying into. But you have to act now because these current prices will not last long.

DeAndre Hopkins

There aren’t a whole lot of positive vibes surrounding the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury has been fired, Kyler Murray is recovering from knee surgery, and trade rumors regarding veterans are looming. One of those rumors involves DeAndre Hopkins. No question, managers are gambling by adding Hopkins right now. Hopkins is currently sitting as the WR 36 in the PlayerProfiler Dynasty Ranks. Regardless of the rumors or his dynasty rankings, when a buy window for a perennial fantasy producer opens up, it is worth taking the chance.

The Cardinals’ veteran wide receiver missed the first six games in the 2022 season due to a PED suspension. Hopkins asserted himself as the WR1 immediately upon returning to the Arizona lineup. In the nine games played in 2022, Hopkins averaged 10.7 targets, 7.1 receptions, 79.7 receiving yards, and 16.9 fantasy points per game. Hopkins’s 29.5-percent Target Share and 43.5-percent Air Yard Share rank top four at the wide receiver position. He may be approaching 31 years of age, but he was still dominant.

He posted a 34.1-percent Dominator Rating (No. 6 among qualified wide receivers), a 54.1-percent Route Win Rate (No. 5), and a 46.6-percent Win Rate vs Man (No. 7). Use the perceived pessimism surrounding the veteran wideout to acquire a legendary fantasy contributor. This is a sale fit for the Fantasy Supermarket.

Antonio Gibson

Opportunities to acquire running backs under the age of 25 with a 99th-percentile Speed Score and 97th-percentile 40-Yard Dash do NOT come often. Heading into the off-season, there is a chance to do just that. Antonio Gibson’s value is very low at this point in the dynasty season, so he can be had at a favorable price. Gibson is the No. 31 ranked running back on PlayerProfiler.com. That is low for a player with his talent profile but still higher than Brian Robinson, James Conner, Tyler Allgeier, and Devin Singletary. That truly illuminates how backs with Gibson’s skills should be valued in dynasty formats.

In all three professional seasons, Gibson has averaged 11 or more fantasy points per game. His rushing totals decreased considerably, but Gibson set career highs in receptions (46) and receiving yards (353). The running back finished the 2022 campaign with a 12-percent Target Share (No. 11 among qualified running backs) and a 1.66 Yards per Route Run (No. 9).

Both of those metrics suggest that Gibson is certainly a dangerous weapon in an offenses’ passing attack. The Washington Commanders seemingly drafted Brian Robinson to be their primary ball carrier. That could mean that a trade this off season is possible. An Antonio Gibson trade would likely boost his perceived value. Buy now whether you believe in Gibson or not because a price increase could be coming this off season.

Fantasy Supermarket Wrap Up

Acquiring players at the right time is a major key to success in fantasy football. Dynasty managers can capitalize during particular parts of the season. While the NFL Playoffs are underway, fantasy team builders can get ahead of the off-season chaos. Players will change teams, players will be drafted, and players may lose their roles. Getting ahead of the NFL off season can bring massive profits to fantasy rosters. Happy shopping and please come on back to the Fantasy Supermarket when you’re ready to buy again.
