Garbage Time Quarterback and Wide Receiver Stacks for Best Ball Leagues

Best Ball Plays & Strategy

We have all benefited from garbage time play at one point or another when playing fantasy football. Mind you these are not garbage players, they just play with garbage defenses. Targeting explosive players on teams with terrible defenses facing a tough schedule of offenses will bring us a plethora of points. Using PlayerProfiler’s advanced stats and metrics, we will look for the best garbage time quarterback/wide receiver stacks.

Teddy Bridgewater and D.J. Moore

The Carolina Panthers offense is loaded with explosive talent all across the board. The defense, on the other hand, is young and terrible. They face offensive juggernauts in their own division with the Saints, Falcons, and now the Tom Brady-led Buccaneers, as well as high-octane AFC opponents in the Chiefs, Broncos, Raiders and Chargers. D.J. Moore has one of the best and most well-rounded prospect profiles in the league.

D.J. Moore Advanced Stats & Metrics Profile

With a 53.3-percent (97th percentile among qualified wide receivers) College Dominator Rating, Moore is a great target to pair with Teddy Bridgewater and his 7.8 (No. 2) Accuracy Rating. Bridgewater came to Carolina with new offensive coordinator Joe Brady. They were together for a season in New Orleans before Brady called a historic season as OC for LSU last year. Expect the Panthers to show similar looks to what Brady’s Saints and Tigers teams have shown.

Fantasy gamers would do well to draft this pair in almost any league setting, especially in Best Ball. Carolina will have to engage in shootouts to even keep close to their opponents. Just set it and forget it.

Joe Burrow and A.J. Green

Joe Burrow posted a 94.9 (99th-percentile) College QBR in a Heisman season for the ages. The Cincinnati Bengals offense has the tools to take off in Zac Taylor’s system. Wide receiver A.J. Green‘s 66.7-percent (No. 3) Contested Catch Rate from 2018 will pair nicely with Burrow’s 76.3-percent completion percentage.

The Bengals defense has been a sieve for years, and this upcoming season looks no easier than others. Facing NFC East opponents in Dallas and Philadelphia to pair with division opponents in the Ravens and Steelers, Burrow and Green will be an explosive pair to stack together.

Matt Stafford and Kenny Golladay

Matthew Stafford was on pace to pass for 4,998 yards and 38 touchdowns before succumbing to a back injury that limited him to only eight games. Stafford’s favorite target Kenny Golladay led the league with 11 receiving touchdowns. Golladay’s 6-4, 217-pound frame with a 110.7 (92nd-percentile) Speed Score is a nightmare matchup for defensive backs.

Check out Kenny Golladay’s 2020 Projection on PlayerProfiler’s “World Famous” Draft Kit:

Head coach Matt Patricia traded Detroit’s best defensive player in cornerback Darius Slay after ranking dead last in defensive passing yards allowed. Stafford and Golladay have their work cut out for them when they face the NFC South teams along with their own division. The Lions can only hope to stay competitive by hoping Stafford can continue his blistering pace from last season.

Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins

Newly acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins recorded 17.8 (No. 4) Fantasy Points per Game with old quarterback Deshaun Watson. Hopkins is now paired with second year quarterback Kyler Murray who had an impressive rookie season. Murray had 23 (No. 3) Money Throws last year, and Hopkins will be more than happy to come down with them this year.

Head coach Kliff Kingsbury had this offense rolling by the end of last season. There is no reason to expect much regression from the offense when the defense has an absurd schedule. Arizona’s own division is packed with offensive power and have to face the NFC East with road games in Dallas and New York. Murray and Hopkins have will look to build a great report to keep competitive in these games. Drafting this pair in Best Ball is a no brainer.
