Cody’s Pro-Day Takeaways/Notes

No. 1

“Take care of your Chicken” – Marshawn Lynch. This is the number 1 thing because as some saw on Twitter this wee, David Ojabo went down with a Torn Achilles at the Michigan Pro Day, and there is a video going around with a tweet from Bucky Brooks about how the scouts, coaches, players, and nobody reacted while Ojabo was laying in pain on the turf. “Take Care of your Chicken” has multiple meanings. 1. Take care of your health. 2. Take care of YOU. 3. Create a team around YOU that cares for YOU. 4. Always have a plan in case the worst thing happens.

No. 2

Be careful what and who you listen to, just because a coach or general manager attends a pro day or event does not mean they are actually interested in the said player. Sometimes teams will try to send smokescreens by attending different events or pro days. At Liberty, the Carolina, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and Washington coaching staffs, and front offices were out in full force. But, the quarterback coaches from Seattle, Baltimore, and the New York Giants also made an appearance at Liberty. Looking at the top teams, Carolina was the most interactive on Tuesday with Ben McAdoo and Matt Rhule standing directly behind Malik Willis during the throwing session, while Mike Tomlin was the most active before throwing, talking to coach Hugh Freeze and Malik Willis. Terry Fontenot on the other hand was sparingly seen talking to Willis, Freeze, or anyone in the circle. The team to keep a close eye on is Seattle, Coach Canales and scouts were in attendance to see Willis’ workout and stood close and conversed throughout the entire workout.

No. 3

Ron Rivera has only been to Four Pro Days in his time as a Coach in the NFL outside of the state of North Carolina. Auburn(Cam Newton) in 2011, LSU(Patrick Peterson) in 2011, Stanford(Christian McCaffrey) in 2017, and now in 2022 Ohio State(Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, and C.J. Stroud from the 2023 class…) – I opted to Mock Drake London to Washington in this Mock 5.0 due to Chris Olave being a redundant asset to Washington with Terry McLaurin on the roster. But if conversation and news continue in that direction, I will be making the move as well.
