Cody’s Projected Trades
In 2021, Cody predicted 8 of 32 picks in Round 1 of the 2021 NFL Draft and looks to return and improve even more in 2022. Round 1 (Picks No. 1-32)
No. 1 –Â Jacksonville Jaguars – Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE – Michigan
I will not pretend to enjoy this pick, as I believe it “should” be Evan Neal/Ickey Ekwonu, but all signs are pointing to Hutchinson playing in Duval in 2022. Over the last 3 seasons, Defensive Line coach Brentson Buckner has worked with the likes of Chandler Jones, Maxx Crosby, and Jason Pierre-Paul – all whom profile with a similar playing style to how Hutchinson wants to approach the NFL… “In a two-point stance, rushing off the edge”.

No. 2 – *Seattle Seahawks – Malik Willis, QB – Liberty
Brad Holmes spent 8 of 16 seasons with Les Snead in Los Angeles, and I would be doing this wrong if I didn’t remind folks what happened during Snead’s first draft back in 2012 while holding the No. 2 overall pick. If not at number 2, the Jets are another spot to look for Atlanta or Seattle to move up.
No. 3 – Houston Texans – Evan Neal, OT – Alabama
The Texans found at least a placeholder in the Round 3 of the 2021 Draft, so at no.3 we see Houston grab their bookend tackle here, Neal joins Laremy Tunsil on the new-look offense that moved on from Deshaun Watson just a few weeks ago.

No. 4 – New York Jets – Sauce Gardner, CB – Cincinnati
The Jets need help on the defensive line and on the back end, but you can only answer one question at a time, with the first of New Yorks Four picks inside the Top 40, they grab the clear-cut No.1 Cornerback in the draft. New York was 31st in Interception percentage, 30th in Completion percentage allowed and 27th in Defensive Pressures. I generally disagree with taking a Corner in the Top 5, but with another pick in the Top 10, let the EDGE defender fall you to and grab the future Pro-Bowl Cornerback out of Cincinnati.
No. 5 – New York Giants – Ickey Ekwonu, OT – North Carolina State

No. 6 – Carolina Panthers – Matt Corral, QB – Ole Miss
It has been between Sam Howell and Matt Corral for Carolina since December, with Corral finally showing his face in Oxford this week and not disappointing, Matt Rhule and Ben McAdoo get a quarterback.

No. 7 – New York Giants – Travon Walker, EDGE – Georgia
No. 8 – Atlanta Falcons – Trevor Penning, OT – Northern Iowa
I told you so… in Mock 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 – “Inserts shrug emoji.” – Taylor Lewan‘s doppelganger goes to Atlanta.
No. 9 – Detroit Lions – Kyle Hamilton, S – Notre Dame
No. 10 – New York Jets – Jermaine Johnson, EDGE – Florida State
Johnson has dominated during each phase of draft season, the 2021 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and Reeses Senior Bowl player of the week has it all from the mentality to the physical aspect of the game. My closest comparable from a gameplay standpoint is Danielle Hunter – Johnson’s run defense is second to none in this class, with his pass-rushing close behind.
No. 11 – Washington Commanders – Drake London, WR – USC
Jordan Matthews… Alshon Jeffery… Michael Pittman… that has been the prototype that suits Carson Wentz(the new quarterback for the Commanders). London is better than them all, and will compete at a solo Pro Day in Southern California on April 4th, after having ankle surgery early in the process. Evaluators have been patiently waiting for a positive note to come from the surgery and to see some athletic testing.
No. 12 – Minnesota Vikings – Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE – Oregon
I can’t express how much it hurts me to see the Top Prospect on my Top 300 Big Board drop to Pick 11. From Nick Fairley to Warren Sapp and Laremy Tunsil, sometimes guys fall for a number of reasons, and the 11-15 range is where they land. Here comes the value of the draft.
No. 13 – Houston Texans – Jordan Davis, DT – Georgia
The benefit of trading away a franchise quarterback in Deshaun Watson is reaping the reward with draft picks, and building from within.. the correct way to rebuild a franchise, Evan Neal and Jordan Davis in Round 1 is a smash.
No. 14 – Baltimore Ravens – Charles Cross, OT – Mississippi State

oh baby, more value for the Cincinnati Bengals. The LSU Trio is back together – Burrow, Chase, and Stingley! Trae Waynes was released, Eli Apple resigned, and Darius Phillips went to Las Vegas in free agency. No better way for Derek Stingley to get back to his old ways than with practicing against Ja’Marr Chase again, full-time.
No. 20 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Desmond Ridder, QB – Cincinnati
Mike Tomlin did the thing, he traveled to every pro-day, every pre-draft event and showed everyone his interest in Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett, and Matt Corral… just follow the 2021 Patriots tactic by sitting still and taking THEIR guy, Desmond Ridder.
No. 21 – New England Patriots – Zion Johnson, IOL – Boston College
Many might plug in Jameson Williams or Devin Lloyd here for New England, but trading away Shaq Mason, and losing Ted Karras opens up a need on the interior. The Patriots added Mack Wilson from Cleveland to the linebacker room and can look to Wide Receiver in later rounds due to great depth in the class.
No. 22 – Green Bay Packers – Jahan Dotson, WR – Penn State

No. 23 – Arizona Cardinals – Travis Jones, DT – Connecticut
No. 24 – Dallas Cowboys – Trent McDuffie, CB – Washington
No. 25 – Buffalo Bills – Kaiir Elam, CB – Florida
Buffalo grabs a need, with a startable cornerback in 2022. Levis Wallace in Pittsburgh, and Tre White recovering from a Torn ACL – expect Elam to come in from the hippity hop and start.
No. 26 – Tennessee Titans – Garrett Wilson, WR – Ohio State
No. 27 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Logan Hall, DL – Houston
A surprising pick for some, but in 2021 when Joe Tryon was the pick at 32, people had the same reaction. Tampa has a type, and Hall fits the Ndamukong Suh and Williams Gholston role for the future.
No. 28 – Green Bay Packers – Tyler Smith, OT – Tulsa
No. 29 – Kansas City Chiefs – Jameson Williams, WR – Alabama
No. 30 – Kansas City Chiefs – Boye Mafe, EDGE – Minnesota
No. 31 – Atlanta Falcons – Kenny Pickett, QB – Pittsburgh
People will hate this pick, but not impressing as much as Malik Willis and Matt Corral, or generating the same amount of buzz as Carson Strong.. outside of his own hand size. Pickett falls past Pittsburgh and hits free fall to 31.
