Welcome to a recap of the 2023 Senior Bowl: 5 Winners for Fantasy Football! After a great week in Mobile, Alabama for the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl, practices and the game are in the books. I’m now settled into the Airbnb in Phoenix for the Media Week of Super Bowl 57. But before the Super Bowl content starts flowing, it’s time to talk about the Winners of the Senior Bowl for our Fantasy Football Rosters. If you missed any of the content over the last week go to @RotoUnderworld / @CarpentierNFL on Twitter and TikTok.

A few of the names below you will remember, and a few might be new – these are the five Fantasy Winners from Senior Bowl practices on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Over the next three months, these five players will rise exponentially among the NFL Draft crowd and Dynasty Fantasy Gamers.
-
Roschon Johnson RB, Texas
There was no bigger winner during Day 1 of the Senior Bowl than Roschon Johnson. Despite suffering a hand injury in the first 10 minutes of practice, he continued on all-day as the clear best player on the field and was head and shoulders ahead of the other running backs. Johnson possesses a downhill running style coupled with elite acceleration and great agility for a running back who weighs in at 225 pounds. We asked Johnson’s agent what he is expecting for a 40-yard time next month at the combine and he replied “fast.” When it’s all said and done, don’t be surprised if Johnson is a top-three running back in the 2023 class.
-
Cameron Latu TE, Alabama
Cameron Latu came in with un-impressive tape after a solid career at Alabama. My expectation for Latu was for him to meld right into the middle mesh at tight end. Instead, throughout the week, with no knee braces, gloves, or tape on, Latu made catch after catch with athletic ability and great agility with a 250 pound frame.
In team drills, I noted Latu twice for making consistent blocks in the run game. And from what we saw at Alabama in big games, such as the 2022 National Championship against Georgia, Latu can play. Latu finished with over 100 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
-
Tyjae Spears RB, Tulane
If you watched college football in 2022, you know who Tyjae Spears was due to Tulane’s return to dominance and his 205-yard, four-touchdown breakout against USC in the Cotton Bowl. During the Senior Bowl, Spears continued showing elite burst, the ability to change direction at the snap of a finger, and re-route while exiting the backfield under pressure. Spears is a slightly more slender version of Nyheim Hines, and due to questionable medicals on his repaired knee, Spears will continue to be a value in Fantasy Rookie Drafts as well as the NFL Draft.
-
Michael Wilson WR, Stanford
Entering Mobile, Michael Wilson was looked at as “the other Stanford receiver” while his teammate Elijah Higgins made the trip and is better known for his recent success. Wilson broke out as a Sophomore with 672 yards and five touchdowns.
During the fourth game of his junior season, he suffered a Jones Fracture that caused him to miss 11 months during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. In Mobile, Wilson dominated each of the three practices with contested catch after contested catch, dragging his toes to stay in-bounds, and using his big body and speed to detour defenders during routes. Think, Terrance Williams!
-
Tre Tucker WR, Cincinnati
There has been NFL Draft buzz for Tre Tucker’s teammate Tyler Scott, however, Tucker was the one in Mobile for the Senior Bowl. I coined him Mr. Consistency this week because, despite his 5-9 frame, he came in 16 pounds heavier than his listed 171. From Tuesday to Thursday, Tucker made almost every catch. Tucker has a great change of direction, and the ability to go UP and get it! Tucker’s speed on film was never on display due to the lack of quarterback play this week. But while asking Tucker who he watched the most of in the NFL, Tucker replied “Tyreek Hill, a lot of people don’t know I have that speed.”
