The Fantasy Supermarket: Players to Buy in Dynasty

Dynasty Leagues

Looking for a running back that may be on sale? How about a wide receiver that is being discounted due to bad reviews? Maybe a quarterback or tight end whose price is about to skyrocket? This is the right place. Welcome to the Fantasy Supermarket, dynasty edition.

The players that are in the Fantasy Supermarket have indicators suggesting that now is the right time to buy in dynasty formats. I’ll be using advanced analytics and metrics from PlayerProfiler.com’s Data Analysis tool to highlight which players are worth buying into. But you have to act now because these current prices will not last long.

Khalil Herbert

Now is a fantastic time to buy into running back Khalil Herbert. David Montgomery has played as the Bears number one running back most of the season, and Herbert has been on the injured reserve. As a result, the price to acquire Herbert is down. That brings up the question, “why would anyone go to the Fantasy Supermarket to buy a running back that is hurt and the RB 2 on his own squad?” Because he has shown to be hyper efficient, the current lead back is heading towards free agency, and Chicago has a number of spots to fill. The chances of the Bears drafting a running back high in the draft appears unlikely.

Khalil Herbert Advanced Stats & Metrics Profile

On a per-touch basis, Herbert pops a number of key efficiency metrics. The tailback gains 6.2 Yards per Touch (No. 5 among qualified running backs), 5.4 True Yards per Carry (No. 4), 3.54 Yards Created per Touch, (No. 8), and has a 41.2-percent Juke Rate (No. 4). These marks suggest that Herbert has been able to perform and would theoretically put up big numbers with more opportunities. He has racked up 644 rushing yards this season (No. 20). This is pretty good considering he has missed three games and can’t return until Week 16 at the earliest. While healthy, Herbert passed 100 total yards from scrimmage twice and totaled 75 or more total yards five times this season. With a chance to be the Bears’ RB 1 in 2023, now is the time to head over to the Fantasy Supermarket and buy Herbert.

Najee Harris

There have been few players in fantasy that have caused frustrations for fantasy managers more than Najee Harris in 2022. The Steelers running back was taken at the top of the second round as the RB 6 just a few months ago. Now he sits outside of the top 20 and is currently RB 23 on a points-per-game basis. Sometimes, it is hard to see a reason to trade for a player that will highlight a number of ‘busts of the year’ lists, but in Harris’s case, it makes sense. There aren’t many chances to acquire a 24-year-old running back who has a top-ten seasonal finish under his belt. This is the exact kind of deal the Fantasy Supermarket loves to advertise.

As a rookie in 2021, Harris proved to be proficient in two key categories. He can catch the ball, and he can create. Harris had 106 Evaded Tackles (No. 2), 1035 Yards Created (No. 2), and finished with a 14.5-percent Target Share (No. 5). Flash forward to 2022 and Harris is still top ten in Evaded Tackles but isn’t seeing the volume he saw as a rookie. Before the season started, it was reported that he had a Lisfranc injury. It is completely plausible that this ailment has hindered him all year. Despite starting the year on the wrong foot (pun intended), Harris still has a 28.5-percent Dominator Rating heading into the fantasy playoffs. Buying the Steelers’ running back now will pay off big time in 2023 and beyond.

Wrap Up

Acquiring players at the right time is a major key to success in fantasy football. Dynasty managers can capitalize during particular parts of the season. Late in the year, players who disappointed, were injured, or didn’t get enough opportunities can be acquired for cheaper than they will ever be. Khalil Herbert and Najee Harris are two players that are worth targeting in dynasty. Happy shopping and come on back to the Fantasy Supermarket.
